Who We Are

401k Decisions (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website 401kdecisions.com, a collection of AI-assisted financial utilities for private investors and active market participants. For any question relating to this policy or to your personal data, contact us at [email protected].

We act as the data controller for the information described below. If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or a jurisdiction with comparable legislation, the rights outlined in section 09 apply to you.

Information We Collect

Information you provide voluntarily

• Email address — if you submit the Early Access form or write to our contact address. This is the only personal identifier we actively request.
• Message content — anything you choose to include in an email to us, such as feedback, feature requests, or support details.

Information collected automatically

• Technical data — IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device category, screen dimensions, and referring URL. This is standard web-server and analytics telemetry.
• Usage data — pages viewed, time on page, scroll depth, and which tools were opened. We use this in aggregate to decide what to build next.

Information we do not collect

• We do not collect names, postal addresses, phone numbers, or dates of birth.
• We do not collect payment card data, bank details, or brokerage credentials. 401k Decisions never asks for them, and you should treat any page claiming otherwise as fraudulent.
• We do not record the values you enter into our calculators — lot sizes, instruments, account balances, or deposit currencies. These are processed in your browser or passed directly to the calculation widget and are not written to our servers.

How We Use Information

• To operate, maintain, and secure the website and its tools.
• To respond to your messages and to notify you about Early Access when a module you asked about becomes available.
• To understand aggregate usage patterns so we can prioritise new calculators and fix what is confusing or broken.
• To detect, investigate, and prevent abuse, fraud, scraping, and denial-of-service activity.
• To comply with applicable legal obligations and to establish or defend legal claims.

We do not use your data for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not build advertising profiles.

Legal Bases for Processing

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following bases: consent for optional analytics and for sending you Early Access updates; legitimate interests for securing the site, preventing abuse, and understanding aggregate usage; and legal obligation where retention or disclosure is required by law. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that already took place.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

We keep our own cookie use minimal. The website may set strictly necessary cookies required for the page to function and for basic security. Any analytics or preference cookies are optional and, where required by law, are set only after you consent.

Embedded third-party components may set their own cookies or use local storage inside their own frames — see the next section. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings; strictly necessary cookies cannot be disabled without breaking parts of the site.

Third-Party Services and Embedded Content

Some pages embed calculators and data widgets served by third parties inside an iframe. On our Pip Calculator page, the interactive widget is provided by fxverify.com. When that widget loads, your browser connects directly to the provider, which means the provider can receive your IP address, browser information, and the values you submit to it for calculation.

We have no control over, and accept no responsibility for, the privacy practices of embedded providers. We encourage you to read their own privacy policies before entering data. Exchange rates and other market figures shown by these widgets originate from the provider, not from 401k Decisions.

We may also use a hosting provider, a content delivery network, and a privacy-conscious analytics service. These process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality and security obligations.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data. We disclose information only in these situations:

• To service providers who host, deliver, or analyse the site on our instructions.
• Where required by law, regulation, court order, or a valid request from a public authority.
• To protect the rights, property, or safety of 401k Decisions, our users, or the public.
• In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — in which case you will be notified before your data becomes subject to a different policy.

Data Retention and Security

Email correspondence is retained for as long as needed to handle your request and for a reasonable period afterwards for reference, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. Aggregated, non-identifying usage statistics may be retained indefinitely. Server logs are kept for a short operational window and then rotated out.

The site is served over HTTPS, and we apply access controls and current platform security updates. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security — but we will notify affected users and, where required, the competent authority if a breach is likely to result in a risk to your rights.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy of it.
• Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Erase your data where there is no overriding reason for us to keep it.
• Restrict or object to processing based on legitimate interests.

• Withdraw consent at any time, and to unsubscribe from any message we send you.
• Opt out of sale or sharing of personal information — noting that we do not engage in either.
• Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We respond within one month and will not discriminate against you for making a request. We may ask for information that helps us confirm the request genuinely comes from you.

International Transfers

Our infrastructure and our service providers may be located outside your country of residence, including outside the European Economic Area. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision covering the destination country.

Children’s Privacy

401k Decisions is intended for adults making their own financial decisions. The site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the platform evolves or as legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. Material changes will be announced on the site, and where the law requires it we will ask for your consent again before the change takes effect.

Nothing published here constitutes investment, tax, or legal advice, and no output of our calculators should be treated as a recommendation.
